| The
first detailed account of beer was made more than 5,000 years ago.
While historians believe that the Middle East and Egypt were the
birthplace of beer, brewing quickly traveled to Europe. In the medieval
period the practice of growing grains to make beer had become so
widespread that beer was becoming a serious competitor for wine-the
alcoholic drink that had previously reigned supreme in some societies.
Monasteries across Europe fostered the art of brewing and the early
church looked kindly on ale believing it to be a blessing from God. This history is reflected today here at Pub Italia, where the enjoyment of beer (as well as wine and other beverages of choice) occurs in in our cosy, medieval atmosphere. Relax and enjoy ! | ||
